Cybercrime: National and State Resources

The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is an FBI site referral mechanism for complaints involving internet related crime.

The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a national network program that helps federal, state and local law enforcement, and prosecutorial agencies engaged in investigating and prosecuting persons involved in child abuse and exploitation involving the internet to develop an effective response to child sexual exploitation and internet crimes against children.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures' website, "Computer crime laws encompass a variety of actions that destroy or interfere with normal operation of a computer system." The National Conference of State Legislatures keeps a list of state computer crime statutes.

To help consumers stay safe online, the Ohio Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Section developed the Cybersecurity Help, Information, and Protection Program (CHIPP). Use the CHIPP resources to help secure your devices, keep your personal information private, and avoid cyber scams.
