Using the Pioneer Trail Discovery Service: An Introduction

A how-to-guide for using the new search box and to introduce the Pioneer Trail EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS).

What is the Pioneer Trail?

The Pioneer Trail is a  new discovery tool or layer. Discovery Layers are a relatively new software component for libraries that provide a search interface for users to find information held in the library’s catalog and beyond. It allows the user to start searching without selecting a specific resource.

The Pioneer Trail is not intended to replace the library (OPAL) catalog but is an additional search tool that allows the user to access a broad variey of resources in one search.

IMPORTANT!

If you select to use the PioneerTrail anywhere off-campus, you will be asked to sign-in using your Malone username (last name) and password (14-digit barcode #).
